   new side
of Golden

Site rendering of the plaza at Clayworks.

So what’s coming? A harmonious extension of downtown. A sustainable new district with a thoughtful mix of uses. Restoring nature so the land can breathe. Welcoming back the community for the first time in over a century.

Promenades, plazas and rooftop patios will create a vibrant new light just across the river from downtown and come to life with live music, events, art, and restaurants. This one-of-a-kind district will also be home to modern new offices, urban apartments, and a boutique hotel. A place for entrepreneurship and collaboration between CoorsTek, nearby Colorado School of Mines, local organizations, and innovative companies that will call Clayworks home. With amenities and a well-balanced lifestyle to help attract and retain the best and brightest.

guiding principles

These values inform every decision on every level of Clayworks. Simply put, if something doesn’t meet the expectation of excellence in these categories, we don’t do it. These are also principles we expect that our partners believe in and embrace.

01Golden community & lifestyle

Golden is a city that lives like a mountain town. Inviting to all, walkable, and surrounded by natural beauty. With a historic downtown that’s down to earth, family-friendly, and clearly reflects the local obsession with outdoor recreation. Clayworks will embody the best qualities of Golden’s unique community and quintessentially Colorado lifestyle.

02health & wellness

Clayworks will add healthy space to an already healthy place. Reconnecting and restoring nature on site, enhancing connection to local trails, employing innovative new sustainable practices and biophilic design, providing an inspired new area for the community to gather, indoors and out, with great views and really good food.

03innovation & discovery

Beautiful mountains meet beautiful minds. From perfecting the recyclable aluminum beverage can to innovative ceramic formulations that advanced the semiconductor industry, this has always been a place for innovation. Both in terms of its placemaking design and the mix of tenants, Clayworks will be a high-performance ecosystem of collaboration among synergistic companies and institutions.

04history & legacy
A view of the CoorsTek building exterior from the train tracks.

Clayworks will always have one foot in history and the other in prophecy. Through adaptive re-use and restoration of key heritage buildings and artifacts, reflecting the civic and business legacy of the Coors Family, and celebrating new opportunities for education and hospitality, the tradition will continue and extend into new territory and collaboration with new partners.

05craft & quality

Think: inspired architecture dedicated to proportion, geometry, and superb materials. Interactive landscapes that bring outdoor areas to life. Outstanding art integrated throughout the public realm. Clayworks’ passionate commitment to exceptional craft and detail will, above all else, create a remarkable place that is a point of pride for the people of Golden and companies with shared values.
