It’s happening, Golden. After four years of design, planning and collaboration, Clayworks is rapidly coming to life and changing the skyline of Golden and this formally industrial area! Check this page regularly for updates on what’s happening and get answers to all your FAQs. Thanks to everyone taking this journey with us toward an even more vibrant and welcoming Golden.
Construction is progressing on the first phase of the Clayworks development, which includes a cutting-edge, sustainably designed Class A office building that will serve as CoorsTek’s new global headquarters—alongside additional tenant space. Following the fast-paced building demolition and major groundwork completed in summer 2024—including utility installation, mass excavation, geothermal wells, waterproofing, and the underground parking garage—the building is now taking shape above ground. With structural steel fully erected, crews are now installing the building’s exterior “skin”—a combination of prefabricated façade panels and high-performance glazing that will bring the design to life. Stay tuned as we shape the next chapter in Golden’s legacy.

Yes, our development plan includes a commitment to provide the equivalent of 10% of all our residential units as workforce housing, whether built on-site or elsewhere in Golden. Our goal is to support the local workforce and local businesses by expanding the range of housing options available in downtown Golden.
The first phase of development that is currently under construction includes a 182,000 square-foot office building (known as Building B3) that will serve as the new CoorsTek global headquarters. The building will also house multiple other office tenants and four food & beverage tenants. The first phase also includes a new block of 9th Street from Jackson Street to Ford Street, an extension of 8th Street from Washington Ave. to Ford Street, new utility infrastructure throughout the site, new surface and below-grade parking lots, and new publicly accessible plazas.
Clayworks’ first phase is under construction and planned to be completed in summer of 2026. The specific timing of subsequent phases is not yet known. Overall, we anticipate Clayworks to be built in phases based on market demand over at least the next 8-10 years.
Clayworks will be a highly sustainable and walkable mixed-use district with a number of community amenities, including new streets and sidewalks, activated publicly accessible open spaces, great restaurants, a hotel with meeting and event spaces, a robust public art program, and lots of additional parking. Please explore the Clayworks website for additional information.
Overall, the project is planned to have as much as 60,000 square feet of retail space, a majority of which will be devoted to food & beverage operators. These spaces will be built and leased in phases in tandem with future office, hotel, and residential buildings. Clayworks’ first building will include space for four food & beverage tenants. Leasing efforts for those spaces is now underway.
